At the June 2014 Board of Directors meeting, the Board of Cape Fear Christian Academy, voted to begin the first stage of the gym renovations.
The Cape Fear Christian Academy gym was built in 1974. Since this time, no major structural updates or changes have been made to the well utilized gym.
The gym accommodates many athletic teams at Cape Fear Christian Academy including Volleyball, Cheerleading, and Basketball. The gym has served as a gathering place for many events including BBQ sales, Fall Festivals, Concerts, Student Programs, Awards Days, Reverse Raffles, Corn Hole Tournaments, and more.
Most importantly the gym serves Cape Fear Christian Academy as our chapel. The gym is a place of worship, community, and fellowship where students, faculty, staff, families, and the surrounding community congregate.
During stage 1, the moisture issues will be addressed including the walls, gutters, and downspouts. Although not glamorous, these issues prevent renovations including a new ceiling, air conditioning, and floor that need to follow. These renovations are being made possible by an anonymous matching gift donated during the beginning of the 2013-2014 academic year.
On the exterior, the community garden preparation will begin with the first grant for that particular portion of the project being received in July.
