This year we praise Him; celebrating over fifty years in Christian education. We praise Him for allowing Cape Fear Christian Academy to operate as a Christ-centered institution providing rigorous academics and exposure to fine arts and athletics. Over twenty years ago, the original crest was created by a student. This student breathed his artistic expression of the Academy and its values into a work of art. Over the years, the original hand-drawn crest has been digitized and updated to the crest (right).
This year as we marked our fiftieth year of Christian education, we wanted to embody the history of the Academy incorporating the time-honored symbolism of our institution into an updated crest (left) to serve the Academy's next fifty years.
Beginning with the outer gold circle that incorporates our everlasting commitment to Christ and the motto, "Christo duce vincamus," we commit to be Christ led and centered, conquering the preparation of leaders for tomorrow. The Academy name prominently displayed above the inner circle and included date symbolizes the unanimous commitment of the institution to uphold the mission, vision, and values of the Academy since 1969.
Centered inside the inner circle is a shield that reminds us, "The Lord is my strength and my shield; in him my heart trusts, and I am helped; my heart exults, and with my song I give thanks to him." Proverbs 28:7. The empty cross reminds us that faith in the risen Christ brings us salvation and of our duty to share the news with the world.
The scroll symbolizes the Academy's dedication to academic excellence, enlightenment, and the Holy Bible, while the harp symbolizes exposure to music, instruments, and fine arts. Lastly, the torch flame represents the light of knowledge and life that we carry as we go forth utilizing our God-given talents to honor Him and lead through our academics, fine art, and athletic abilities.
