When we kicked off our year-long celebration at homecoming this past year, we highlighted and recognized over 50 years in Christian education. This academic year, we continue that celebration with the official unveiling of our new academy crest.
The new crest had to embody the history of this Academy demonstrating a Christ-centered focus first and foremost followed by symbols of academic excellence, fine arts, and athletics.
As we have navigated these last 50 years, we look to our values to jog the memories that this Academy has shared with so many. We value a Christ-centered education remembering Bible classes full of songs and skits, moving chapel speakers such as the Holocaust survivor, Mr. Abe Piasek, and the mere fact that we could open any class, assembly, or sporting event in prayer.
We value a rigorous and academically challenging curriculum remembering the long hours we spent on calculus homework, the nonstop writing revisions, and the vast amount of academic competition awards students have earned. We value exposure to advanced technologies in the classroom environment remembering when the original projectors were replaced by overhead projectors linked to laptops and the implementation of one on one devices for each student. We value college level and honors learning opportunities as each student has the opportunity to challenge themselves beyond an honors curriculum, the ability to take AP courses, and an array of college-level courses. We value learning experiences in art, drama, foreign language, and music as we remember the performances by students from lower school to upper school performing Seussical, The Little Mermaid Jr., and Mary Poppins. We value competitive athletic programs to encourage healthy sportsmanship as we remember the many conference and state titles of our athletes and the addition of new sports such as cross country, swim, tennis, and bass fishing. We value parental involvement opportunities including committees and volunteerism remembering how blessed we are that our parents and community lift us up each year supporting us with their time and resources. And we value community outreach to promote Christian service missions as we remember all of the opportunities for service that the community has afforded our students over the year including food bank replenishment, caring for our elderly community members, and mission trips.
It is with these remembrances that we hope and pray that you will continue on this journey with us for the next 50 years as we launch the first-ever Capital Endowment Campaign at Cape Fear Christian Academy. This is an exciting time of growth for our Academy where we want you to be the first to hear about our Capital Endowment Campaign and have the opportunity to become a founding contributor. The unique feature of this fund is that when interest is utilized and the principal remains untouched, the endowed fund can provide for the Academy and preparation of future leaders for years to come preserving the hard work and dedication of our many Eagle families of the last 50 years.
