SUMMER OF FUN

Each summer Cape Fear Christian Academy hosts a variety of summer camps from cooking, science, sewing, sports and more.  CFCA is proud to offer the following Summer of Fun programs for the 2019 Summer as well as a comprehensive listing of summer camp opportunities serving Harnett County including Erwin, Lillington, Dunn, Angier, and Coats.  These opportunities are not limited to Cape Fear Christian Academy students and are available to all individuals (updates in progress).     

Summer of Fun 2019

This Summer, Cape Fear Christian Academy will host a number of summer camps. Take a look below to see what fun our community will be having this summer!

  • Cooking Camp 101 - 06/10/2019-06/14/2019 - $245 (9:00am-2:00pm)

    • ​Students will learn many new, basic kitchen skills as they prepare a dinner and dessert to take home for their families each day of camp! Students will also be sampling their created dishes over lunch daily and will take home their own cookbook at the end of the week! Camp price includes all materials for camp as well as the choice of a pink or green apron and chef's hat, dinner and dessert daily, and a cookbook to take home! This camp is geared towards students in the rising 3rd through 6th grades. Students will need to pack a lunch and snack daily

  • Camp Invention - 06/17/2019-06/21/2019 - $220 (9:00am-2:00pm)

    • ​Camp Invention® is a nationally acclaimed summer program where STEM concepts come to life. Led by local teachers, this program has tapped into kids' natural curiosity since 1990, giving them the opportunity to become innovators through teamwork and immersive, hands-on creative problem-solving.

  • Cooking Camp 102 - 06/24/2019-06/28/2019 - $245 (9:00am-2:00pm)

    • ​Students will learn many new kitchen skills as they prepare a dinner and small dessert to take home for their families each day of camp! This camp will focus on making things from scratch, knife skills and flavor combinations. Students will also be sampling their created dishes over lunch daily and will take home their own cookbook at the end of the week! Camp price includes all materials for camp as well as the choice of an apron and chef's hat, dinner and dessert daily, and a cookbook to take home! This camp is geared towards students in the rising 5th through 8th grades. Students will need to pack a lunch and snack daily.

  • Sewing Camp  June 24 - 28  Rising 3rd - 5th Grades (limit of 6 students) - $225

    • Learn sewing skills, as well as responsibility, commitment, focus, patience, coordination, organization, and how to follow rules, all through the enjoyment of sewing. Students will be introduced to hand-sewing basics such as threading a needle, making knots, using pins, overstitching, and lock stitching. Step-by-step instructions guide students through stitching and stuffing felt animals. Students will then be introduced to machine sewing. Students learn the parts of a sewing machine and learn to thread and care for their machine. They will then use practice papers to learn to stitch on straight and curved lines, turn corners, make big and little stitches, make lock stitches, and stitch a curved-line shape. Moving to fabric, they machine-sew and stuff a fabric star as they learn about seam allowances, tapering seams, and snipping and clipping fabric and thread. After learning these basics, we will move on to several additional projects. Students will need to pack a lunch and snack daily.

  • Food Chemistry Camp - 07/08/2019-07/12/2019 - $225 (9:00am-2:00pm)

    • ​Students will learn many new kitchen skills as they prepare small dishes to take home for their families each day of camp! This camp will focus on making things from scratch, spicing foods, ingredient ratios, molecular gastronomy and more. Students will also be sampling their created dishes over lunch daily and will take home their own cookbook at the end of the week! Camp price includes all materials for camp as well as the choice of an apron and chef's hat, small dishes daily, and a cookbook to take home! This camp is geared towards students in the rising 5th through 8th grades. Students will need to pack a lunch and snack daily.

  • Sewing Camp  07/08/2019-07/12/2019  Rising 3rd - 5th Grades (limit of 6 students) - $225

  • Science Exploration Camp - 07/15/2019-07/19/2019 - $225 (9:00am-2:00pm)

    • ​Students will get to explore 4+ different areas of science including Chemistry, Physics, Biology, and Biotechnology! This will be a 100% hands-on camp geared towards students in the rising 4th through 8th grades. We will be traveling to different field sites to learn about the different areas of science in addition to completing labs on campus. Cost includes a t-shirt, all field trips and materials for camp. Students will need to pack a lunch and snack daily.

  • Baking & Cake Decorating Camp - 07/22/2019-07/26/2019 - $245 (9:00am-2:00pm)

    • ​Students will learn many new kitchen skills as they learn to bake many dishes from scratch and how to decorate them! We will focus on baking from scratch everything from rolls and bread to cakes and cookies. Towards the end of the week, we will shift our focus to icing and decorating. Camp price includes all materials for camp as well as the choice of an apron and chef's hat, dessert daily, a small cake decorating kit and a cookbook to take home! This camp is geared towards students in the rising 4th through 8th grades. Students will need to pack a lunch and snack daily.

  • Sewing Camp  07/22/2019-07/26/2019  Rising 6th - 8th Grades (limit of 6 students) - $225

    • Learn sewing skills, as well as responsibility, commitment, focus, patience, coordination, organization, and how to follow rules, all through the enjoyment of sewing. Students will be introduced to hand-sewing basics such as threading a needle, making knots, using pins, overstitching, and lock stitching.   • Makerspace Camp - 07/29/2019-08/02/2019 - $225 (9:00am-2:00pm)

    • ​Students will learn to make their own soap, candles, lotion, bath bombs, paper, scrapbook, DIYs and more! Open to everyone ages 9 and up. Students will need to pack a lunch and snack daily.
